The Improvement of emergency care service quality at pre-hospital and hospital levels through the development and implementation of a training program

The project “The Improvement of emergency care service quality at pre-hospital and hospital levels through the development and implementation of a training program” is part of the Swiss-Romanian Cooperation program, defined through the Memorandum of Agreement between Switzerland and  the EU from February 2006 and the additional act from June 25th, 2008 for Bulgaria and Romania, as well as the Framework agreement between Romania and Switzerland for the Swiss contribution signed on September 7th, 2010.

The general objective of the Swiss financing is the reduction of the economic and social disparities within the extended EU. Through this program, Switzerland commits itself to support the European integration efforts by Romania through the implementation of a few thematic funds.

The general objective of the project: the delivery of high-quality services by well-trained emergency teams for the pacients that need emergency services at the pre-hospital and hospital levels.

The direct beneficiaries are the emergency care physician-nurse team, paramedics, emergency care pedietricians, emergency-care physicians and neonatologists, including nurses, involved in the neonatal transportation, emergency unit heads, other personnel from the emergency units and ambulance services of 12-15 training centers involved in the project. 

The final beneficiaries of the project will be the patients using the emergency care services in Romania, the local communities and local public health-care authorities.

 

Financed by the “Health-care reform” Thematic Fund, the two projects regarding “The Improvement of the emergency-care service quality at pre-hospital and hospital levels through the development and implementation of a training program” and “The improvement of pediatric emergency-care service quality through the implementation of a training program” are announced during an event at the Training Center of the Emergency Unit of the Floreasca Emergency Hospital.

The results of the project are:

  • The Training Centers in Romania for the pre-hospital and hospital emergency care levels offer high-quality training courses, in line with international standards and integrated in the Romanian Continued Professional Education system.
  • The emergency intervention teams have the right knowledge and abilities to offer services in line with the relevant international standards.
  • The pre-hospital and hospital emergency services beneficiaza de local practice guides that are in line with the relevant international standards.

The project duration is 24 months starting with March 2014.
